Dr. Parviz Varjavand, prominent archeologist, sociologist, writer and one of the cultural figures of Iran passed away in Tehran today, June 9th. He was a reputable and active politician who struggled against cultural and political atrocities of the IRI in many fronts and, consequently, had suffered imprisonment and constant annoyance. Dr Varjaavand became a staunch supporter of this Committee from the early stages of its formation and acted as a wise advisor and reliable source of knowledge for all members of this Committee. We consider his demise as a great loss to the Iranian people and would like to extend our condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and all the supporters of Iranian culture, archeology and art.
