مادر و پدرش پزشک بودند، پدرش متخصص اطفال با فوق تخصص آلرژی و ایونولوژی،استاد ممتاز و بنیان گذاربخش ایمونولوژی در دانشگاه تهران بود.

ویدا دوران دبستان و دبیرستان را در مدرسه های فرانسه زبان به پایان رساند و سپس در رشته ی علوم سیاسی به ادامه تحصیل پرداخت. دل مشغولی او اما همواره شعر و هنر بود(در نقاشی سالها شاگرد آیدین آغداشلو و اساتید دیگری بود، درانجمن خوشنویسان خوشنویسی را تا حد ممتاز پیش برد)

ویدا فرهودی  از سال 1999 در فرانسه زندگی می کند.

After completing her elementary and high school in French schools in Tehran, Vida Farhoudi continued her studies at Melli University in political science. Her interests however, were in literature, art, and especially poetry from the very early age. Following her aspirations for arts, she began to practice and study painting and Persian calligraphy, and through the years benefited from auspices of great painters such as Aidin Aghdashloo. In calligraphy also, she advanced her skills and obtained diplomas from The Iranian Association of Calligraphers.

Vida Farhoudi’s works have been inspired by her appreciation of love, altruism, and concerns for oppressed people of the world, and particularly her home land, Iran . Her efforts have been to establish and promote freedom of thought and speech.

In 1999, she immigrated to France and has settled in Paris ever since. Before relocating to France, she regularly cooperated with literary and social journals and press, publishing poetry, translating books and articles from French and English to Persian, and text editing. Currently, she publishes her recent poetry and works in literature, in Persian websites or journals.

She has published many Poetry books.

 Among her most recent collections of poems are  “Without a Preface” (in Persian: Bee Moghaddameh), “If the silence is broken” (in Persian: Sokoot Agar Keh Beshkand), and the very latest book which was published this year (January 2012) “On the wings of sonnet… (in Persian: Bar Bale Ghazal)
