شاهین نژاد در سال 1346 در سمنان زاده شد و در مشهد بزرگ شد. از دانشگاه صنعتی شریف در رشتۀ مهندسی فرآیندهای نفت، لیسانس و از دانشگاه صنعت نفت در رشتۀ مهندسی مخازن نفت، فوق لیسانس گرفت.

در سال 1371 عضو هیئت علمی دانشگاه فردوسی مشهد و از سال 1372 تا 1376عضو هیئت علمی دانشگاه آزاد تهران بود و همزمان در شرکت نفت فلات قاره، کارشناس نفتی میادین خلیج فارس بود. در سالهای 1375تا هنگام ترک ایران در تابستان 1376عضو کمیته ملی انرژی در ایران بود.

از سال 1376 تا 1384در انگلستان برای شرکتهای نفتی «شِل» و «ماراتن» کار کرد و از شهریور ۱۳۸۴ تاکنون در هیوستون تکزاس بسر می برد. در سال 2004 میلادی ، نام او به عنوان کارشناس ممتاز نفتی در کتاب who is who درج گردید.

شاهین، از نوجوانی، و همزمان با فعالیت های تخصصی خود به مطالعات تاریخی پرداخت. او تا کنون مقالاتی در باره ی تاریخ ایران باستان، ایران معاصر و شاهنامه منتشر کرده است. در هیوستون با همراهی تنی چند از فرهنگ دوستان در 1386، «شبهای اندیشه و سخن» را بنیاد گذاشت. همچنین از سال 1387در در «کارگاه شاهنامه»هوستون تکزاس، تدریس می کند. این کلاس ها ماهیانه در دو نشست برگزار می شود و کند و کاوی نو و ژرف در حماسه ملی ایران، اسطوره های ایرانی و متون کهن پهلوی و فارسی می باشد. او همچنین مصاحبه هایی با رسانه های فارسی زبان برونمرزی پیرامون تاریخ ایران باستان و تاریخ معاصر نیز داشته است.

در سال 2011 ـ 1390 از وی کتابی به نام «نشیبی دراز است پیش فراز» منتشر شده است که حاوی پژوهش های وی در زمینه ی فروپاشی ایران ساسانی در برابر حمله یاعراب مسلمان می باشد.

در حال حاضر او مشغول پژوهشی اساسی در ارتباط با « رویارویی و همزیستی خاور و باختر به نمایندگی ایران ساسانی و روم شرقی» می باشد که تز دوره دکترای او در دانشگاه «لِستر» انگلستان نیز هست.

Shahin was born in Semnan and grew up in Mashhad, Iran in 1967. He received his bachelor in Petroleum Process Engineering from Sharif University of Technology (1989) and his Master in Petroleum Reservoir Engineering from University of Petroleum Industries (1991).

He was an associate professor in Ferdowsi University (1992) for a short period then in Tehran Azad University from 1993 to 1997. Simultaneously, he was working in National Iranian Oil Company. He was a main member of the National Committee of Energy.

He worked for oil companies in United Kingdom from 1997 to 2005 and moved to USA in September 2005 to continue working in oil industry in Houston. His name was included in Who is Who’s list of 2004.

Shahin started studying history from young age. He has written several articles on Shahnameh (Iranian national epic), ancient and contemporary history of Iran. With some other cultural activists, he founded “The nights of Thought and Talk” in Houston in 2007. He has also been teaching in workshop of Shahnameh since 2008 which is a continuous research on Iranian mythologies, epic, history and old texts of Pahlavi and Farsi. He was interviewed by Iranian radio and TV stations broadcasting out of Iran about historical topics and modern history of Iran.

In 2011, he published his book (The dramatic decline after the climax) in Persian language which is a research on Sassanid Iran collapse against Muslims invasion based on Roman, Armenian, Arab and Persian historians’ accounts and resources. The study is a conceptual and analytical research free of ideological and political biases.

He is currently working on a project with Leicester University which is Ph.D. thesis under the title of “Sassanid Iran and Eastern Roman Empires as the East & West representatives of the era: Coexistences, Conflicts and Interactions”.
