Bahram Rowshan-Zamir

 

Bahram Rowshan-Zamir, an activist, writer and researcher of Iranian history, with an emphasis on pre-Islamic era, was born in 1982 in Tehran, Iran. His early research took place in her high school years on the movement for nationalization of the Iranian oil industry. He began his university years in computer science but after attending the classes on the methodology of research, he was then attracted to the pre-Islamic history of Iran and enrolled in the history department.

He began publishing his writings in students’ circulars and on internet in 2005. A year later, he bagan to teach the history of ancient Iran in Afraz Society’s workshop. The outcome of this workshop was a two-volumed book on “The world kingship of Iran: History of Iran from its beginnings to the Alexander’s conguests” and “Iranian Ups and Downs: From Macedonians invasion to the Arab Conquest of Iran”.

In 2007 Mr. Rowshan-Zamir founded the Iranology Society and supervised other workshops on Iranian history and culture. They were running for 6 years.

The result of his efforts during these years resulted in 20 research projects and 50 articles, as well as numerous lectures at universities, education centers, foundations, cultural societies, and interviews on radio stations.

He has participated in the editorship of Iran-negar calendar for official Iranian religions and was also the editor-in-chief of Iran-Shahr Society’s Department of History and Religious Studies. His work for Wikipedia includes writing and editing of 120 articles both in Farsi, English and Cyrilik.

As of 2004, his major contribution has been in relation to the preservation and registeration of the forgotten Iranian festivities and rituals with the aim of reviving them. He has collaborated with Iranian NGOs for completing the files on these festivities and celebrating the achievements of famous Iranian cultural personalities. His extensive studies on the re-construction of ancient Iranian calendar are also to be noted.

Since 2012, he has embarked on a project for documenting Iranian festivities and has produced 5 documentaries.

Mr. Rowshan-Zamir has received several prizes for his contributions to the Iranian culture.
